Biography

Prof. Dr. Mohd Zobir Hussein received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and his Ph.D. degree in chemical spectroscopy from the University of Reading, England.

His research interests mainly focus on the design, synthesis and application of various inorganic functional and structural nanomaterials based on various layered hydroxides, carbon nanostructures, host-guest nanocomposites, nanoparticles and core-shell nanoparticles, particularly for drug delivery and diagnostic applications. These research interests are as a result of his previous post-doctoral research experiences from various universities, namely Pennsylvania State University USA, University of Southampton England, University of Western Australia Perth, Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand and Utrecht University the Netherlands.

His multidisciplinary research works were made possible by the help of his collaborators from different backgrounds, from the Institute of Bioscience, Faculty of Biotechnology, Department of Biology and Physics, UPM and colleagues from other laboratories in USA and Saudi Arabia. The works were supported by more than 50 postgraduate students under him as the chairman or member of supervisory committee, which resulted in more than 260 journal publications, 300 proceedings/abstracts and 4 patents.
